Get out and vote
Now’s the time to put the past behind us and look to the future. It is time to factor in what we want and who we want to represent us as a member of Nome Common Council. Vote for who we want to choose to make responsible to represent us and make decisions for us.
It is also time to attend public meetings, to become informed and make our wishes known. Let us learn from retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter who warned that civic ignorance is a danger to freedom. Civic responsibility begins at home in our own community with more involvement than our 19 percent voter turnout in the municipal election, the smallest turnout since 1976.
Let’s be responsible and vote in the run-off election Nov. 1. Let us be responsible and vote for Mark Johnson.
