Margaret “Yayuk” Mary Acoman
Margaret “Yayuk” Mary Acoman was born to Alexandria Lockwood and Kaster Nils in St. Michael, Alaska on September 2,1945. She joined her husband, children and family in the Lord’s kingdom on January 22, 2023.
Margaret grew up mostly in St. Michael. She married Walter Acoman on January 5, 1964. Together they raised three biological children and two adopted children.
Margaret moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 2017 to be near her daughter and family and also to be close to a medical facility.
Margaret loved to make kaspaqs. The last kaspaq she made was in May 2022 for Sidney for his high school graduation. Her favorite thing to do was to berry-pick. She also liked to cut fish and do subsistence. She loved to be out in the country and spending time at camp. She worked at the Anthony Andrews School as a teacher aide for 35 years and retired in 2001.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Georgian Nils, Diane and spouse Mark Thompson, Veronica and Jessica Acoman. Her grandchildren: Dallas, Gordon, Nichole, Silas, Sidney, Storm, Paul John, Marilyn, Jaden, Dorothea, Dana, Harper and Thomas. Siblings Andrew, Sr. and spouse Dora Lockwood, John and spouse Dorothy Lockwood, Florence Lockwood, and Daisy and spouse Wilfred Katcheak.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Walter Acoman; children Arlene Kobuk and Terry Acoman; great grandson Thomas Sagoonick; mother Alexandria Lockwood and father Kaster Nils; stepfather James Lockwood; siblingsVeronica Ivanoff, Elizabeth Ivanoff, Dolores Stelmach, Gordon Lockwood, Sr., Ignatius Lockwood.
