Stephan “Steve” Ignatius Tom “Kussaq”

Stephan “Steve” Ignatius Tom “Kussaq” was born to Edward and Minnie Tom on October 20, 1953.  He departed his earthly home on June 2, 2026 in St. Michael, Alaska, where he resided throughout his life. 

In his lifetime, Steve worked as the Water Plant Operator.

Steve enjoyed playing bingo, beachcombing, spending time with family and spent time in his last months with Joelle Hunt and her daughters, and Justin Hunt who all helped take care of him until he passed.  

Steve is survived by his daughter Crystal Andre and spouse Alfred; granddaughters Tia Belanger, Kaylin Kaas and Makayla Andre; great grandkids: Ava and Leo Belanger, and Josie Kaas; sister Marie Teayoumeak; nieces Minnie Pete and family, Irene Williams and family, Ada Augline and family, Minnie Yunak and family, Angel Teayoumeak and family;  nephews: Percy, Gus, and Lawrence Yunak and their families, Robert, Marty and Matthew Teayoumeak. 

Steve is preceded in death by his life partner Loraine; parents Edward and Minnie Tom; sister Olga Yunak and spouse Peter; brother William Tom; nephews Richard and Cyril Yunak and great niece Victoria Shelli Williams.
