Marcus Paul Flynn
According to Norton Sound Health Corporation, Nome’s first baby of the year was not expected for another couple of months.
Luckily, Maggie Flynn and Curtis Tom of St. Michael were in Nome early, preparing for the arrival of their son, Marcus Paul Flynn.
Marcus was born January 7, 2017 at 8:26 a.m. at the Norton Sound Regional Hospital. Right away, the baby boy was transported to Anchorage to be treated in a newborn intensive care unit. Flynn was just 32 weeks pregnant when her son decided to make his appearance. At 18 inches, Marcus weighed 4 pounds and 15 ounces.
Still in Anchorage, Flynn says her premature boy is busy getting healthy.
“He’s doing better, gaining his weight and learning how to feed more,” she said.
Flynn says several family members were able to see Marcus, including his dad and older sister, Jeanette, but they are all looking forward to getting back to St. Michael and meeting the entire family. “I can't wait to bring him home to his grandparents and his uncles and aunts and his cousins,” Flynn said.
Marcus's maternal grandparents are Paul and Anna Flynn of Stebbins, and his paternal grandparents are Susanna and Damian Tom of St. Michael. His biological grandmother from his dad’s side is Margret Snowball. Marcus was named after his dad’s late brother, Marcus Snowball.
