Honors: Linda Steiger receives Alaska Air Legend award

Nome’s Linda Steiger last week received the Legends Award from her employer Alaska Airlines. Steiger was among 19 recipients who were honored on Thursday, May 16 at an awards dinner in Seattle.

According to Alaska Airlines spokesperson Tim Thompson, Steiger started out with the company working a summer job in Nome, then she worked in LA for a couple of years and came back to Nome in the mid-90's where she has worked ever since.

The Legend Award was created in 1991 as Alaska Airlines top honor to recognize employees who personify everything that makes Alaska Airlines great. Legends are role models who always look up, push higher, put others first and have been doing so for over a decade. “They bring their whole self to work, making Alaska Airlines remarkable and inspiring us all to do the same,” said Thompson in an email to the Nugget.
