Theresa Ann (Mackey) Romenesko

Theresa Ann Romenesko (née Mackey) passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022 of metastatic breast cancer at the age of 64. Terry died at home in Anchorage, Alaska surrounded by her husband of 40 years, Randy, and her boys Banner and Taylor and their spouses Hannah and Meagan.

Terry was born in St. Louis, MO on October 12, 1957 to her parents Dr. James P. Mackey and Rosemary A. Mackey (Egan). She was raised in the Green Bay, WI area before attending the University of Wisconsin Madison where she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. She worked as a licensed Registered Nurse for 40 years in Alaska.

Terry married Randy in August 1982 and both left for Alaska on a one-year commitment to the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Nome, AK. Terry remained in Alaska living in Nome, Ketchikan and Anchorage for 39 years.

Terry was a compassionate nurse working in various Public Health, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Surgery, and Women’s Health clinics. Terry loved the outdoors, especially picking berries, was a gardener always teasing green life out of the arctic summers and was especially fond of Alaska perennial flowers. Terry enjoyed traveling, baking her way and sewing for others. Terry loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Terry was tough as nails with a heart of gold.

Terry is survived by her husband Randy Romenesko of Anchorage, AK; son Banner Mackey Romenesko (Hannah and grandchildren Aylah, Kane, Letty) of Anchorage, AK; son Taylor Mackey Romenesko (Meagan) of Boise, ID; mother Rosemary Mackey of Green Bay, WI; sisters Mary, Kathy Geygan (Jeff), Colleen Smits (Pete), Meghan Novotny, Molly Bernstein (Glenn); brothers Mike (Heidi) and Patrick Mackey (Sara). Further survived by in-laws: Clyde and Margaret Romenesko; Rod, Scott (Lynn), and Stuart Romenesko (Sherry); Cheri Pieters (Sean) and many nieces and nephews and many, many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. James P. Mackey, her brother Daniel and her brother-in-law Craig Romenesko. Terry will be greatly misse
