Elsie Kay (Karmun) McConnell Umailaaq

October 21, 1953 – August 31, 2016

Elsie Kay (Karmun) McConnell was born on October 21, 1953, in Deering, Alaska to Dan and Ethel Karmun.

Elsie loved her family immensely. She loved to oonga her grandkids, nieces and nephews whether they were one or 45.  She spent her time watching her favorite programs, keeping in touch with friends on Facebook, berry picking, dancing, and going for long drives. She would go camping every chance she got. Elsie will always be remembered for her contagious laugh.  She could never finish telling a joke because, by the end, she would be laughing too hard.  Elsie also enjoyed cooking and family members each had their favorite “Elsie” dish.  She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Ahna, aunt and great aunt.

Elsie is survived by her husband Mike McConnell; sons Donnie, Robin, Clint and his wife Jade; daughter SueAnn; father Dan Karmun Sr.; siblings Edna, Gloria, Judy, Porter and Harry; grandchildren:  Logan, Paige, and Brynnley: many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother Ethel; brothers Glenn, Bert and Danny; sisters Shirley Kay, Laraine and Lucille.

Elsie passed away on August 31, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones.   Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her mother, Ethel, in Deering.

Thank you family and friends, near and far, who have sent condolences.  We feel greatly loved and supported.
