Bertha Bella Woods

Bertha Bella Woods

Dec. 24, 1941 ~ Sept. 26, 2017

Bertha Bella Woods (Clark) was born on December 24, 1941, in Deering, Alaska to Charlie and Pauline Clark.

She passed peacefully in Nome on September 26, 2017 with her daughters by her side. She grew up helping her parents with reindeer herding in the NANA region during her pre-teen years. After graduating from Mt. Edgecumbe in 1962, Bertha attended school in Santa Fe, New Mexico for Art and business classes and Seward to study.

In 1971 she married Michael D. Woods and had two girls, whom she was very proud of. She worked in various jobs in Kotzebue ranging from Maniilaq Association, KIC and the Northwest Arctic Borough School District. Bertha worked for the Northwest Arctic Borough School District as teacher aide and receptionist and security for thirteen and a half years and retired in 2003.

Bertha was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and his word. She enjoyed reading her bible, memorizing scripture, singing, praying for others, fellowship, and testifying of the great things of God. She touched many lives with her ministry of prayer, quoting scripture, worship songs/choruses, and testimonies.

Bertha Bella will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughters Suzanne and Michele Woods, granddaughter Lynelle Jones, brother Harry L. Clark, nephews Harry Jr., Norman and John Clark, niece Lori Clark, sister Laura Johnson, nephew Gary and Kathy, niece Elaine and Dan Snyder.

Thank you to the Norton Sound Health Corporation staff, NANA, KIC, NSEDC, Northwest Arctic Borough, Kotzebue IRA, Kotzebue Friends Church and all family and friends who contributed and cooked for service and potluck in Kotzebue. God bless you all.
