First week of school

Monday marked the first day of school in the new school year and after a summer of fishing, berry picking and lazing around, students need to get used to the new routine of rising early and finding the joy of studying again.
Here’s my advice to all you students: tackle the task of learning joyfully, soak up all the knowledge that you get because it will give you the tools you need to succeed in life. Knowledge will make you a well-informed citizen making good decisions. Find the thrill of learning something new in every day. If you struggle with a topic, ask for help, I’m sure it will be freely given. If you excel at a subject, see if you can help others.
Work on your discipline and even though it feels tough to get up in the morning when it’s dark and cold outside, swing your legs out of bed and get going.
Parents, greet your kids with a hug and a smile in the morning. Set them up for success by instilling good habits. Check their homework and be involved.
Teachers, please care for our kids from your heart and teach them well. We trust you with our most precious loves.
It takes a village to care for our kids. Continued involvement by parents, relatives and community members  in  educational matters is absolutely necessary to raise a new generation of whole, healthy and happy people.
Have a wonderful school year and stay engaged. –D.H.—
