Former Nomeite Julie Vincek was appointed to serve as a member on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s Individual and Family Lived Experience committee. Vincek has been a clinical counselor for the Anchorage School District in the high schools since 1991. She does mental health counseling and crisis intervention and has worked on suicide prevention and intervention in the district for the past 29 years. She also serves currently on the Governor's advisory board for statewide suicide prevention. Her focus is on student's mental health wellness. 

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline committees are national advisory bodies that help ensure that Lifeline fulfills its mission to reach all persons in suicidal distress across the nation. The Individual and Family Lived Experience Committee aims to ensure that the Lifeline is effectively reaching critical and diverse populations at higher risk for suicide by providing recommendations on standard network practices, marketing materials/promotional campaigns, evaluations of network coverage and caller demographics.
